Advances in Complementary and Integrative Medicine Welcomes New Editorial Board Member

We sincerely welcome Dr. Abdullah A. Shaito from the Biomedical Research Center (BRC), Qatar University, Doha, Qatar, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Complementary and Integrative Medicine. His current research interests include the therapeutic use of medicinal plants. Dr. Shaito’s Lab performs evidence-based research on the efficacy and possible side effects of herbal remedies. Their ultimate goal is to uncover the mechanisms of action of these plant preparations and the translation of novel plant-based therapeutics from the bench to the bedside. Mechanisms they study include inhibition of inflammation, inhibition of oxidative stress, inhibition of metastasis, among others. These mechanisms are studied in the context of several diseases like cardiovascular disease and its risk factors (Diabetes, Obesity, Dyslipidemia, etc.), neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and recently COVID-19.
