Advance in Cells Welcomes New Editorial Board Member

We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Fernando A. Arosa from Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilha, Portugal, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Cells. Dr. Arosa's research interests presently focus on the study of human CD8+ T cells and how they respond to signal changes in their microenvironment, namely cytokines and endogenous factors. We are interested in characterizing the phenotypic and functional changes that these CD8+ T cells undergo, with special focus on the expression of inhibitory receptors, MHC class I conformers as well as regenerating factors. The group is also interested in finding bridges between these findings and cognitive disorders, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, and Dementia, through different approaches, including identifying novel immune biomarkers in cognitively impaired elders, and establishing a novel in vitro model to study neuro-immune crosstalk. We appreciate Prof. Dr. Fernando A. Arosa for his participation and support.
