Advance in Cells Welcomes New Editorial Board Member

We sincerely welcome Dr. Kamal Ahmad Qureshi from Qassim University, Al-Mulida, Saudi Arabia, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Cells. He holds advanced degrees in multiple scientific disciplines, including an MSc in Microbiology, an MPhil in Environmental Science, and a PhD in Microbial Biotechnology. His multidisciplinary approach informs his extensive research interests, which are rooted in the exploration of novel antimicrobial and anticancer drug candidates. He specializes in sourcing these candidates from a diverse range of natural ecosystems, including terrestrial, aquatic, and mangrove environments. His research methodologies encompass an array of modern biotechnological techniques. These include the use of recombinant DNA technology, whole-genome sequencing, and gene editing through the CRISPR/Cas9 system. His work routinely involves the isolation, purification, and characterization of novel antimicrobial and anticancer compounds, primarily derived from soil microorganisms like Streptomyces strains and Bacillus species. Currently, his research is focused on discovering novel anti-TB, anti-HIV, and anti-cancer drugs sourced from both microbial and plant origins. While his primary expertise lies in microbiology, his scientific curiosity extends far beyond it, encompassing synthetic biology and host-pathogen interactions, among other areas. We appreciate Dr. Kamal Ahmad Qureshi for his participation and support.
