Summary:

The ever-growing urgency of environmental challenges like climate change, pollution, and resource depletion demands innovative solutions grounded in environmental science and guided by the principles of UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This special issue aims to showcase recent progress by highlighting research that translates science into action and emphasizes innovative solutions for environmental challenges. We welcome submissions that explore interdisciplinary approaches, novel technologies, and effective policy frameworks to understand and mitigate environmental impacts, promoting sustainability, and advancing SDGs.

Potential topics include:

Climate change mitigation and adapting strategies (renewable energy, carbon capture storage and utilisation, climate-resilient agriculture, smart grid technologies).

Circular economy and waste management (resource recovery, sustainable product design, sustainable fashion, food waste reduction).

Biodiversity and ecosystem conservation (habitat restoration, ecological monitoring, human-wildlife conflict resolution).

Life cycle assessment of emerging technologies and sustainability metrics (measuring environmental impact, developing sustainable practices).

Environmental monitoring and control (air quality improvement, microplastics mitigation, bioremediation, remote sensing technologies, long-term ecological monitoring programmes).

Sustainable water management (water security and sanitation, water conservation, wastewater management, desalination technologies).

Keywords: Climate change mitigation, circular economy, air and water pollution, biodiversity, life cycle assessment, environmental science, environmental monitoring, water security,
