Topic:
As global demand for clean water increases, sustainable wastewater treatment and effective water resource management are becoming paramount. This special issue aims to explore the latest advancements and challenges in these areas, focusing on innovative technologies and strategies to optimize wastewater treatment while minimizing environmental impact. Traditional wastewater treatment methods often face limitations related to energy consumption, resource recovery, and pollutant removal efficiency. However, emerging solutions, such as advanced oxidation processes, membrane technologies, bioengineered systems, and process intensification, hold the potential to address these challenges and transform water treatment systems.
Key challenges include the integration of novel technologies into existing infrastructure, balancing cost-effectiveness with sustainability, and scaling up innovative methods for industrial applications. Moreover, effective water resource management necessitates comprehensive strategies that not only treat wastewater but also recover valuable resources, reduce pollutants, and ensure the sustainable use of water supplies.
This issue welcomes contributions that address these themes, exploring both technical and management aspects of water systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Keywords: Wastewater treatment, Water resource management, Sustainable technologies, Membrane processes, Process intensification, Pollutant removal, Resource recovery.
